VP QA/Fixed Income/Capital Markets Location: Hybrid NYC or Charlotte, NC - We need a hands-on QA Engineer or Architect of Data Strategy Testing to lead quality assurance and data validation efforts within the Fixed Income business. This individual will play a pivotal role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of capital markets data platforms and reports by developing robust test plans, leading a team of 4 5 analysts and engineers, and collaborating across technology and business teams.
The ideal candidate must have strong experience in capital markets, with deep hands-on skills in SQL and either Python or Java, along with expertise in validating financial data, trade flows, and regulatory reporting in Fixed Income domains. CANDIDATES MUST HAVE EXTENSIVE EXPERIENCE Lead the end-to-end data testing lifecycle for fixed income platforms, reports, and analytical tools.
Job Description: Client is seeking a
hands-on Vice President of Data Strategy Testing to lead quality assurance and data validation efforts within the
Fixed Income business. This individual will play a pivotal role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of capital markets data platforms and reports by developing robust test plans, leading a team of 4 5 analysts and engineers, and collaborating across technology and business teams.
The ideal candidate must have strong experience in
capital markets , with deep hands-on skills in
SQL and either
Python or Java , along with expertise in validating financial data, trade flows, and regulatory reporting in Fixed Income domains.
Key Responsibilities: - Lead the end-to-end data testing lifecycle for fixed income platforms, reports, and analytical tools.
- Develop and execute complex SQL queries and Python/Java scripts to validate data transformations, calculations, and reconciliations.
- Oversee the design and execution of UAT and regression testing strategies for Fixed Income data pipelines and reports.
- Act as a bridge between business users and development teams to ensure accurate translation of requirements into test cases.
- Partner with data architects, developers, and product owners to validate business rules, trade logic, and reference data integrity.
- Identify, document, and track data defects, coordinating timely resolution and retesting.
- Provide oversight and mentorship to a team of 4 5 testing professionals, ensuring test coverage, best practices, and QA standards are upheld.
- Contribute to the automation of data validation processes and continuous improvement of testing frameworks.
- Ensure testing outcomes support regulatory, compliance, and internal audit standards related to capital markets.
Required Qualifications: - 7+ years of experience in data testing or QA, with 3+ years in a leadership role within capital markets or investment banking.
- Proven hands-on expertise in SQL (advanced level) and Python or Java (intermediate-to-advanced).
- Deep knowledge of fixed income instruments, trade lifecycles, and capital markets reporting.
- Strong background in data validation, test case development, and data quality assurance.
- Experience with tools like JIRA, ALM, Git, Jenkins, and Excel VBA is a plus.
- Ability to manage test teams and projects in a fast-paced, high-stakes financial environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, especially in working with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications: - Experience with regulatory reporting (e.g., TRACE, EMIR, MiFID II).
- Familiarity with data warehouse environments and ETL testing.
Knowledge of cloud-based data platforms such as
Snowflake or Azure Data Lake is a plus
