A Travel Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse (RN) provides specialized nursing care to adult and geriatric patients in a variety of hospital settings on a temporary basis. Responsibilities include IV therapy, wound and colostomy care, medication administration, and patient monitoring using electronic medical records. This role involves collaboration with interdisciplinary teams and adherence to hospital protocols while traveling to different locations to fill staffing needs.

Nationwide Therapy Group is seeking a travel nurse RN Med Surg for a travel nursing job in Springfield, Illinois.

Job Description & Requirements

• 36 hours per week
• Shift: 12 hours, nights
• Employment Type: Travel

• IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration
• Peripheral and PICC line care/management
• Heparin drips, TPN administration, NG insertion, tube feedings
• Isolation precautions, wound care, colostomy and feeding tube care
• Use of rapid response teams and remote telemetry monitoring
• Provide direct nursing care and treatment to adult and geriatric patients
• Administer medications, including heparin drips and TPN, and perform IV therapy
• Monitor and manage patients requiring blood product administration
• Insert and manage NG tubes, feeding tubes, and peripheral/PICC lines
• Perform wound care, colostomy care, and maintain infection control standards
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including PT, RT, pharmacy, and case management
• Use Cerner EMR for documentation
• Respond appropriately to rapid response and emergency situations
• Adhere to hospital policies, protocols, and safety regulations
• Strong IV and phlebotomy skills required
• Must be willing to float
• Previous travel or charge experience preferred
• GI Bleeds, Bowel Obstruction, Diverticulitis, Pancreatitis
• Bowel Resection, Colon Cancer, Cholecystitis

• Alcohol Withdrawal, Appendicitis
