Nationwide Therapy Group is seeking a travel nurse RN Med Surg for a travel nursing job in Decatur, Illinois.

• Shift: 12 hours, nights
• Employment Type: Travel

• Deliver direct patient care to adult and geriatric populations on a busy Med/Surg unit with an average census of 35 patients.
• Maintain a patient ratio of approximately 6–7:1 on night shifts while managing a wide variety of acute and chronic conditions.
• Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms via remote telemetry and respond rapidly to changes using Rapid Response Team protocols .
• Perform comprehensive GI , renal , respiratory , and IV therapy procedures including:
  • Colostomy care, feeding tube management, and wound vac care.
  • Pre- and post-hemodialysis management and renal failure monitoring.
  • Management of CPAP/BiPAP, High-Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC), tracheostomy, and portable oxygen systems.
  • Administer medications including Heparin, Insulin, and PCA.
  • Start IVs, access ports, and manage central/PICC/peripheral lines.
• Utilize Cerner EMR for accurate, timely charting and care documentation.
• Provide safe, compassionate care in accordance with isolation protocols , infection control standards, and evidence-based practices.
• Communicate effectively with interdisciplinary teams including IV therapy, respiratory, physical therapy, pharmacy, and social services.
• Float to similar Med/Surg or affiliated units within the hospital system as required by staffing needs.
• Participate in wound care and post-op management of surgical patients (neuro, ortho trauma, thoracic, and amputations).
• Assist with patient mobility using assistive devices such as sit-to-stand lifts
• Floating: Required within hospital and affiliate sites as needed
