General Description The Senior Technical Writer/Instructional Designer at Lumu Technologies is responsible for creating and maintaining high-quality technical documentation and instructional content. This content helps Lumu users, partners, collaborators, and employees understand Lumu’s features and vision. The ideal candidate should be able to translate technical concepts into clear, well-crafted instructional content and documentation. They must identify the most effective ways to highlight Lumu’s value proposition for a diverse audience, including cybersecurity practitioners, network administrators, internal hires, and external stakeholders. Responsibilities Collaborate with internal and external subject matter experts (SMEs) and cross-functional teams to translate technical specifications into clear, user-friendly how-to guides and product documentation. Develop a deep understanding of content from external sources, internalize key concepts, and effectively communicate them to a targeted audience using clear and accessible language. Use design elements (text, graphics) to communicate logical sequences and create attractive documents. Write scripts and help produce instructional material/media (audio, videos, etc.). Develop and maintain instructional content across various formats, including training courses, certification exams, documentation, tutorials, videos, UI-embedded help, sample code, eBooks, and infographics, utilizing a range of tools and systems. Create engaging learning activities that enhance the learning process. Review existing content materials with an eye for detail, ensuring correct spelling, grammar, clarity, style and usability of digital assets. Support the Instructional Design Manager through all project stages, including analysis, design, prototyping, production, and QA. Over time, the Senior Instructional Designer is expected to develop the skills to independently design and execute projects. Required Skills and Experience Experience in content writing, website writing, instructional design, and/or technical writing. Proficiency with authoring tools and learning management systems (LMS) is a plus. Strong English verbal and written communication skills. Strong Spanish verbal and written communication skills. Strong communication and organizational skills to collaborate effectively with technical experts and managers while developing and maintaining technical and instructional content. Have strong wordsmithing skills to enhance comprehension of written material and video narration. Ability to create, assimilate, and convey technical material in an easy-to-understand, clear, concise and effective manner. Knowledge of educational technology and ability to master new and emerging technologies quickly. Interested in immersing themselves and developing a deep understanding of Lumu’s technologies and vision. Ability to work with minimal supervision and collaborate with a diverse group of people including writers, designers, threat specialists, developers, etc. Experience with visual design and multimedia and/or building interactive eLearning and video modules. Experience in software programs and tools such as HTML5, video editing software, Canva, Audacity, Adobe Creative Suite, Learning Management Systems and/or other eLearning programs are also valuable assets. The ideal candidate should have a solid understanding of cyber-attacks and familiarity with systems designed to detect, prevent, and mitigate them.
