Job Description
A Middle/High School Math Teacher job involves instructing students in mathematical concepts, developing lesson plans, assessing student understanding, and fostering a positive learning environment. They also collaborate with colleagues and parents, prepare students for assessments, and manage the classroom.
Key Responsibilities:
Instruction:
Delivering engaging and effective lessons in mathematics, covering topics like algebra, geometry, and calculus, depending on the grade level.
Curriculum Development:
Creating and adapting lesson plans to meet the needs of diverse learners, including those with special needs or English language learners.
Assessment:
Evaluating student progress through assignments, tests, quizzes, and other assessments, providing timely feedback to students and parents.
Classroom Management:
Establishing and maintaining a positive and respectful learning environment, managing student behavior, and fostering a culture of mathematical excellence.
Collaboration:
Working with other teachers, administrators, and parents to support student success, including participating in professional development and grade-level planning.
Individualized Support:
Providing extra help and support to students who need it, both individually and in small groups, and adapting instruction to meet their specific needs.
Professional Development:
Participating in ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices in mathematics education and to enhance their teaching skills.
Mentorship:
Guiding and supporting students as they transition to higher levels of education.
