About Sightline Institute Sightline Institute is committed to making Cascadia—the region stretching from Alaska to northern California and from the Pacific to the Rocky Mountain states—a global model of sustainability, with strong communities, a green economy, and a healthy environment. Founded in 1993, Sightline is one of the region’s premier public policy think tanks, influencing legislation many times—and media coverage hundreds of times—each year. Our programs focus on Housing + Cities, Democracy + Elections, and Climate + Energy, aiming to identify and promote reforms that significantly benefit the region’s people and places. Sightline is a nonprofit, nonpartisan, independent public policy research center providing research reports, articles, commentary, maps, graphics, tools, and messaging guidance. Our influence depends on our researchers’ expertise and their ability to persuasively present analysis and arguments. We aim to highlight and support data-backed solutions to public problems through active engagement in policy debates. We advise public officials, advocates, and media, and collaborate with diverse allies and coalitions.
