This role focuses on managing the successful execution of projects, schedules, contracts, and compliance-related activities to ensure that operations across multiple NYC facilities align with all relevant federal, state, and municipal environmental regulations, as well as internal company policies and sustainability objectives. The individual in this position will be involved in drafting technical documentation, regulatory submissions, and ensuring ongoing environmental compliance.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Ensure adherence to environmental standards and requirements set by agencies such as USEPA, USCG, NYSDEC, NYC DEP, and FDNY
Conduct activities aimed at confirming and enhancing compliance across operational sites
Prepare documentation for regulatory reporting and compliance submissions
Lead both capital and operational improvement projects
Maintain regular communication with environmental regulatory bodies
Collaborate with internal departments and external stakeholders on relevant initiatives
Participate in and coordinate emergency responses, including chemical or oil spill mitigation
Support site safety initiatives in coordination with station managers
QUALIFICATIONS
A bachelor’s degree in engineering is essential, along with demonstrated experience in project oversight, environmental assessments, and regulatory compliance. Applicants must have at least five years of relevant work history and solid familiarity with key environmental statutes such as the Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, RCRA, CERCLA, and OPA90. Strong project coordination and communication skills are also necessary.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be available for overtime and respond to emergency situations during non-standard hours
Ability to address complex environmental challenges independently
Should possess a proactive mindset and operate effectively with limited supervision
Comfortable working in diverse environments such as offices, labs, outdoor locations in varying weather, and industrial boiler rooms. Physical activities may include standing/walking for extended periods, working at heights, and lifting up to 50 lbs
Willingness to travel out of town and stay overnight for training as scheduled by the company
Must pass a respirator fit and physical assessment
A valid driver’s license is necessary
Must secure all required FDNY Certificates of Fitness
