The Role In Brief
Director, Product Owner
EAB seeks a passionate, entrepreneurial team player for the Product Owner role, leading engineering efforts to grow our products. You will plan and execute high-visibility technical projects, collaborating with engineers to develop innovative solutions for the education industry.

This role can be based in Washington, D.C., Richmond, VA, or remotely within the U.S. It is not eligible for visa sponsorship; candidates must have U.S. work authorization.

Primary Responsibilities

  1. Lead projects discovering new features and solutions in partnership with Product Management and executives.
  2. Contribute to the development and prioritization of the Product Roadmap with the Product Manager.
  3. Assess technical feasibility during product planning.
  4. Manage and build teams in an Agile environment, empowering self-organization.
  5. Partner with stakeholders to recommend business and technical solutions.
  6. Manage project risks, milestones, and progress monitoring.
  7. Prioritize epics and user stories in the backlog to support development goals.
  8. Promote Agile practices and coach team members on Scrum principles.
  9. Participate in Scrum events like daily stand-ups, grooming, and planning.
  10. Lead organizational improvements beyond Engineering to develop a world-class tech organization.
  11. Mentor and train junior staff.
  12. Help establish best practices within the Product Owner team.

Basic Qualifications

  • 6-8+ years' experience in managing teams, projects, client support, or related areas.
  • Experience managing multiple technical projects from 1 to over 12 months.
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies.
  • Experience collaborating across Development, Marketing, Support, and Sales teams.
  • Ability to communicate technical info effectively to diverse audiences.
  • Solve problems with a solutions-focused approach.
  • Technical aptitude for learning new technologies.
  • Ability to travel up to 10%.

Ideal Qualifications

  • Experience working with offshore development teams.
  • Deep experience with Agile methodologies like Scrum and Kanban.
  • Experience as a Scrum Master or Agile coach.
  • Certifications like CSM, CSP, PMP, or PgMP.
  • Experience in the education industry.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and fostering an inclusive, respectful work culture.

Compensation

The starting salary range is $105,000 - $141,500/year, depending on experience, skills, and location. Additional discretionary bonuses may apply.
